TEDDYBEARMUSEUM
TEDDYGRANDPAPAS
HOUSE
Welcome
to our web-sites!
Here
is a little information for you about our little, private museum.
Teddygrandpapas House is the first and only real teddybearmuseum in
Finland. It was founded 01.06.2000.
WHERE
IS THE MUSEUM:
We
are nearby Hyvinkää, in a little village called
Monni. We are about 4,5 km from middle of Hyvinkää. Other
distances: Riihimäki 11 km, Hämeenlinna 45 km and the capitol
of Finland : HELSINKI 65 km.

WHAT
DO WE HAVE IN OUR MUSEUM:
We
have a huge collection of old teddybears and soft-animals. Then we
have “younger” teddies: collectors-bears, soft-animals and
also other old toys. The Teddybears are from all-over the world,
but the majority are German teddies and animals: Steiff, Hermann,
Schuco, Diems, Bing aso. The oldest teddies are from 1904 and then
other teddies up to 1960.
WHO
OWNS THE TEDDIES AND WHERE ARE THEY FROM?
The
museum is private and all the teddies and soft animals are a private
collection.
The
owner is Armi Viitasaari and her husband Jorma. Armi has been a
teddy-fan all her life and the first teddy was bought to her when
she was a baby in 1955.This teddy is also in museum and he is a
typical teddy from Finland at 1950-60, a big, yellow, polish bear called
“The Big-teddy”.
Armi
and her husband have been collecting teddybears, old toy-animals
and other toys over 30 years. The teddies have been bought from
Finland, Sweden, Germany, England and other countries.
We have many friends in many countries and they have been, and STILL
ARE, a big help in finding more beautiful and interesting old teddybears and animals
for our collection.
Some
to mention: in Finland Liisa Brusin at
Pop-antik in Helsinki, in
Sweden: Stockholm
Toy Cabinet, in England: Marilyn and Fiona at The
Old Bear company Ltd,
Martin Kidman
and his wonderful collection and Andy and Mel at Bourton
Bears .
Details
of them all can be found at our sites in “Vinkit
ja linkit” – there are links in finish.
Thank
You for all of you for a BIG help and support!
Armi
has been studying old teddies for all these years and there are
also about 50 books about old teddybears in the museum to read for visitors.
